Since that first Dube, a professional prototype was made in Chesterfield by Scotty O’Connor at Bedford and Havenhand. Within 3 months the Dube was born and continued to grow from strength to strength in its sound and appearance. Inventor and ex-international footballer Dion Dublin says “It’s like no other percussion instrument, it’s something very unique and I am extremely proud of how it has evolved. I am fortunate at the amount of support it as had from many artists and musicians.” The Dube has been used by Karl Brazil, Feeder, James Blunt, Leona Lewis and Robbie Williams, Cark McGregor and Beverley Knight, The Head of Percussion at the Royal Shakespeare Company, Jim Jones, plus Courtney Pine uses it on his latest album ‘Europa’, with The Maccabes and Brother endorsing and using the Dube. “I recently performed on stage with Toploader, Ocean Colour Scene and The Establishment (managed by Dublin) and the response I received was phenomenal”. The Dube can enhance all genres of music so if you are a drummer, a percussionist or just a lover of instruments come along to the London Drum Show and give the Dube a go! At the show over the two days you will see the Dube in its many colours and sizes being demonstrated, a sound not to be missed! For more information on the Dube www.thedube.com. |

The first ever Dube was made 6 years ago by Dion Dublin after a training session at Norwich City. After a quick visit to a DIY store for 6 equal squares of wood, nails and a hammer the first Dube was born, albeit a makeshift and very ugly prototype. The sound was overwhelming, even at this early stage. This Intrigued musicians who tried it, believing something special had been created.
