Live Stage

Seating 450 people, tickets for the Live Stage auditorium are available at the show only and are collected from specific stands, generally the artist's sponsoring company. The tickets are first come first served, so an early arrival to the show is recommended. There will be a board detailing which stands to collect tickets at the entrance ticket desk.

Kenny Aronoff is one of the world’s most in-demand session players and will be performing on Saturday 15th October. Kenny is not only a renowned clinician and excellent performer, but also one of the most in-demand session musicians in the world. He has performed on over 30 Grammy-nominated recordings and has played for such artists as John Mellencamp, The Smashing Pumpkins, Melissa Etheridge, Jon Bon Jovi, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart, Alanis Morissette, Avril Lavigne, Joe Cocker, B. B. King, Mick Jagger and many more.

Gregg Bissonette, who is currently touring with Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band (read Drummer’s interview with Gregg in issue 92), will be performing on the main stage on Saturday 15th October. Gregg has performed with the likes of David Lee Roth, Joe Satriani, Toto, Brian Wilson, Santana and many more, and has recently recorded with the Counting Crows and Duran Duran. Gregg’s performance is one that visitors to the show will not want to miss!

Dave Elitch, formally of band The Mars Volta, features on the bestselling GospelChops.com DVD Shed Sessionz Vol. 2, where he plays alongside some of the best gospel/R&B drummers in the industry. In addition to being a touring and recording session musician, Dave Elitch is also an educator. He has been teaching for 10 years and is one of the most in-demand private teachers in Los Angeles. The London Drum Show welcomes Dave to the stage for what promises to be a thrilling live performance.

Thomas Lang headlines Saturday’s Main Stage performances. Thomas took up drumming at the age of 5 and was formally educated at the Vienna Conservatory of Music. Thomas Lang worked way up to performing with the elite of the European pop, rock and jazz scenes and has performed with the likes of Robbie Williams. One of the world’s most respected drummers, Thomas is celebrated as an an incredible clinician, educator (his Creative Control DVD [Husdon] is a world best seller) and session drummer. Thomas performs at the 2011 London Drum Show by popular demand and promises to be a not-to-miss attraction.

Jonathan ‘Ginger’ Hamilton 11.15

Jonathan ‘Ginger’ Hamilton is fast becoming one of the UK’s most prominent gospel and R&B drummers. At age 18 he landed his first session working with Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland. Since then he has gone on to work with Pixie Lott, The Saturdays, N-Dubz and DJ Ironik. Jonathan is currently working with Peter Andre, VV Brown and Boy George and promises to be an incredible attraction for this year’s showgoers.

An extreme metal god and Pearl artist, from the band Nile. George’s talent and unique drumming technique does not get unnoticed. He brings a whole new vibe to the extreme metal scene. His drumming is drawing rave reviews for its technical approach, precision, speed and musicality. George is notable for using only one kick pedal during blast beats, rather than the double-kicks employed by most drummers. Playing blast beats around 280 beats per minute is no exception.

Mary J. Blige’s drummer since 2003, currently serving as her live tour musical director. Plus the much coverted drummer’s chair on American Idol. Rex’s ability to nail any track on the first take made him a natural to handle the show’s rigorous schedule and massive song list. Rex’s résumé also features some of the greatest artists on the R&B and gospel scenes, including Chaka Khan, Kirk Franklin, Keri Hilson, Wyclef, Michelle Williams (of Destinys Child) and Marvin Sapp.

KJ Sawka 17.00

Also joining the stellar line-up of artists at this year’s show is Pendulum’s KJ Sawka, who will be appearing at the show on Sunday 16th October. KJ, who featured on the cover of the July edition of Drummer, is well known for providing the beats behind Pendulum’s unique electronic-rock sound, with his fusion of acoustic and electronic drums and percussion. KJ Sawka is no stranger to drum clinics and performances and will be appearing at the London Drum Show on the back of this year’s storming performance at the Download festival and the Glastonbury festival headline show.
